Healthy Opportunities for Parents to Experience Success (HOPES)

Happy Baby Child Eats Itself With A SpoonBuilding Families provides funding to each county’s public health to support their Healthy Opportunities for Parents to Experience Success, HOPES, programs.

The HOPES program focuses on prenatal care, child development, child health, parenting skills and other aspects of family functioning and is modeled after Healthy Families America. This model establishes critical elements and practice standards for effective home visitation programs that have been determined by repeated evaluations of early intervention and prevention programs. All staff must complete the 4-day HOPES (Healthy Opportunities to Experience Success) training.

Program Goals:
1. Promote optimal child health and development.
2. Improve family coping skills and functioning.
3. Promote positive parenting and family interaction.
4. Prevent child abuse and neglect, as well as infant mortality and morbidity.

Services are offered to all families in Hamilton, Humboldt and Wright counties at no charge. A family support worker will visit the family in their home or at a place of their choice.
