Positive Solutions for Families is a great opportunity for parents and families to learn new parenting skills and techniques to deal with children's challenging behaviors - you know the one's - yelling, fighting, not listening, being bossy.  Below are the sessions and what will be covered.  Sign up today!  Don't miss out on this valuable class!!

Making a Connection!  Session 1: Meet each other and learn about our families.  Identify the importance of building positive relationships with children. Discuss the “power” of using positive comments and encouragement with children.

Making it Happen!  Session 2: Understand how play can be a powerful parenting practice. Learn ways to help children develop friendship skills. Link relationship building, use of positive comments, and play to children’s behavior.

Why do Children do What they do?  Session 4: Examine why children do what they do.  Practice ways to determine the meaning of their behaviors.  Understand how to make clear expectations for children and effective ways to develop and teach household rules.

Teach me What to Do - Session 4: Identify  ways to cope with feelings of anger and disappointment. Learn what your child’s temperament has to do with how they handle their emotions and settings. Demonstrate the use of books and other tools to promote social emotional development.

 Facing the Challenge: Part 1 Session 5: Examine nine specific strategies that can be used to promote positive adult and child behavior in home and community settings.

 Facing the Challenge: Part 2  Session 6: Identify that problem behavior has meaning. Identify the meaning of behavior by examining what happens before and after the problem behavior. Identify the three parts of a behavior plan: prevention, new skills to teach, and new responses. Learn to use the Family Routine Guide to identify supports to use with children during daily routines.


Registration is required because the classes are 
FREE with a FREE meal and FREE childcare.
