Michelle Olson, CCNC and Angie Halfwassen, I-Smiles Coordinator from Webster County Public Health have been busy visiting preschools providing dental screenings and varnishing for three, four, and five year olds. Here Angie is counting Dawson Seiser’s teeth. Dawson attends the St. Paul’s four year old afternoon program in Webster City. The dental screenings have been a collaboration between Webster County Public Health and Building Families for the past two years. Next year we hope to have all preschools in Hamilton, Humboldt and Wright Counties on board to assist parents in having a dental checkup for their preschooler.

Upcoming Training-of-Trainer Institutes
FAMILY PARTNERSHIP INITIATIVE
The Family Partnership Initiative (FPI) Training-of-Trainers Institute provides participants with techniques to enhance partnerships between families and staff serving children birth to 12 years, in state-funded, child development programs and family child care home networks. The Institute is designed for leaders in the field of child development who impact the professional development of practitioners in their region. This may include teacher trainers, program leaders, program directors, consultants, and family leaders (parents who are active in family resource centers or parent associations).
The FPI Institute focuses on offering strategies that programs can use with families and staff to jointly support children's learning and development, to highlight the strengths each member brings to the partnership, and to explore innovative ways to nurture these partnerships with all families and staff to implement.
